Family Adventures in San Pedro del Pinatar, Spain

05/30/2026

In 2019 I traveled with my family, my mom, dad, and my two younger sisters, to San Pedro del Pinatar in Spain. We were lucky enough to borrow a holiday home from a good family friend, which made the trip extra special.

The Holiday Home

The house had three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a shared living room and kitchen area. Outside there was a swimming pool and a beautiful rooftop terrace where we could relax. The location was also great, just a short bike ride from the beach.

Tips:

  • Borrowing or renting a holiday home can be cheaper than staying in a hotel, especially when traveling with several people.

  • Having your own kitchen gives you the option to cook some meals yourself, which saves money and gives more flexibility.

Rental Car and Luggage

We rented a car that was just the right size, though it was completely packed since each of us brought a big suitcase. It just about fit! With the car, it was easy to visit shopping centers, beaches, and different places in the area.

Tips:

  • Always check the size of the rental car carefully, going one size bigger than you think you'll need can make a big difference.

  • Many rental cars in Spain have small trunks, so plan your packing well.

Experiences

We spent time at several shopping centers, relaxed at the beach, and enjoyed our days at the holiday home. We also visited a local market where they sold fruit and vegetables, clothes, souvenirs, and other exciting items.

We were able to borrow bikes from the holiday home, and we used them a lot. My dad and I went on both sightseeing rides and training rides, in addition to family trips together. It was such an active and cozy way to explore the area.

Tips:

  • The markets in San Pedro del Pinatar and the surrounding areas offer a wide selection, perfect for local flavors and souvenirs.

  • Rent or borrow bikes if you can, it gives you a different kind of freedom compared to just driving.

  • The beaches here are calm and family-friendly, making them great for children.

Summary

This was a cozy family trip filled with a mix of beach life, shopping, cycling, and quality time together at the holiday home. Having access to a pool, bikes, and being close to the beach made the stay both relaxing and varied. San Pedro del Pinatar is a great destination for families looking for quieter surroundings compared to Spain's busier tourist areas. 🌞
