Our Journey Home, An Adventure of Its Own!

Julie and I could definitely have planned our journey home a little better, but when flights from London to Oslo suddenly go on sale, you simply have to take the opportunity!
That meant our trip home turned into a little Interrail adventure. First one train, then another, and then yet another. For the final train, we needed seat reservations, which we fortunately managed to book just in time.
When we reached the security checkpoint, we faced our first challenge. The queue was long, and time was running out. We explained that we were running late and asked if there was any chance we could get through a little quicker. Thankfully, everyone we met was incredibly kind and helpful.
Once we reached the platform, we sprinted as fast as we could, convinced we were about to miss our train. When we finally arrived, the conductor smiled and told us that we actually had plenty of time. All that stress for nothing!
Our journey took us by train from Antwerp to Brussels, then to Paris, and finally to London. (We actually took more trains than that, but this is the short version.) From London, we caught an Uber to the airport before flying back to Oslo Gardermoen, where my mum was waiting to pick us up.
Despite the stressful moments, everything worked out perfectly in the end.
On the way home, I bought a baguette, but later that evening I started feeling sick. I developed nausea and stomach pain, and the following day I was completely out of action. Whether it was motion sickness or food poisoning, I'm still not sure.
Of course, it all happened just before Christmas Eve!
What an unforgettable ending to our trip.
My Tips
🚆 Reserve train seats early whenever reservations are required.
⏰ Leave extra time for airport security, you never know how busy it will be.
🥪 Bring snacks and water for long travel days.
😊 If you're running late, don't be afraid to ask for help. People are often much kinder than you expect.
Looking back, the journey home was just as memorable as the holiday itself.
