đ· The Cobalt Mines and Hadeland Glassworks: History, Art & Adventure in Ă
mot

I went with a friend to BlÄfargeverket in à mot. This is a place filled with history, art, and nature. We also visited the Cobalt Mines, located a short drive and walk away.
BlĂ„fargeverket is free to visit, but the mine tour has an admission fee. A Historic Mine Tour costs 249 NOK for adults and 160 NOK for children (6â15 years). More information is available on their website: blaa.no.
Exploring BlÄfargeverket
We started at BlÄfargeverket, where we saw many different figures, stones, and exhibitions. We took lots of photos, had a baguette, and drank soda while walking around.
There are several souvenir shops in the area that sell items in the signature blue color, as well as figurines, art, and decorative pieces. You can also learn how the color is made, which materials are used, and see historical figures and working methods represented in the displays.
Tips:
-
Take your time, there's a lot to see and explore.
-
The souvenir shops are great for unique gifts.
-
Bring a camera, the area is full of beautiful photo spots.
Heading to the Cobalt Mines
Afterward, we drove along a forest road to the parking area for the Cobalt Mines. On the way, we passed old buildings and small museums, which we took a quick look at.
At the reception/souvenir shop, we signed up for the Historic Mine Tour, just in time for the last tour of the day. The guide first walked us through the museums and buildings we had already seen, this time with stories and history.
Then we were given helmets and led into the mines. Inside, the guide told us about how people worked in the mines in the past, a fascinating and educational experience.
Challenges and Highlights in the Mine
Inside the mine, there were suspension bridges and glass floors. If you're afraid of heights, this is where you'll be challenged! The suspension bridge was necessary to cross, while the glass floor was optional.
Tips:
-
Wear good shoes, there's a lot of walking, and your feet may get tired.
-
Bring a light jacket, it can be cooler inside the mine.
-
Be prepared to face your fear of heights.
Summary
BlÄfargeverket and the Cobalt Mines offer a mix of beautiful nature, exciting history, art, museums, and small shops. It's a great experience for both adults and children, and well worth a visit if you want something unique in Norway.
A day trip here gives you culture, learning, and memories, I highly recommend it! đ·
