Reflection: Why the Dream of Inclusive Travel Means So Much to Me

10/19/2025

Hi, it's Elise here 🌸

As you know, I'm slowly but surely building the dream of Inkluderende Reiser (Inclusive Travel) journeys and experiences without barriers. Sharing my thoughts and plans gives me energy, and it makes me happy to see so many of you cheering for this project. But most importantly, this is for the people I want to create it for.

That's why I want to use this post to reflect a little, and I hope you'll share your thoughts with me in the comments too. 💙

What do I want participants to feel after a trip?
I dream that people will come home with memories, confidence, and a sense of accomplishment, that they'll feel, "I can do this too."

What barriers do many face today?
I know that anxiety, depression, loneliness, and physical challenges can make traveling difficult. Many say that transport, logistics, and feeling safe are what hold them back.

How can I combine my background to make a difference?
I bring with me healthcare, mental health work, and now tourism management, three worlds that together can offer safety, structure, and meaningful experiences.

What can I learn directly from the target group?
This isn't just my project. I need to listen to those of you with firsthand experience, as well as the organizations working on this every day.

How can I balance pride and humility?
I'm proud to be working on this, but I want to be a voice for many, not just for myself. That's why I plan to share more of your stories and perspectives going forward.

🌍 I invite you, the reader, to share your input:
What would make you or someone you know feel safer about traveling?
What do you think is missing in today's travel offerings?

Together, we can build a travel world where everyone belongs. 💙
