🐾 Road Trip with a Dog in Norway, Day 4: The Atlantic Ocean Road

🛳 Ferry Ride and Starting the Day

We woke up at the hotel in Sjåk and got ready for what many call "the road trip of a lifetime." We took a car ferry across the water. Since dogs aren't allowed inside on the ferry, Gizmo and I stayed together in the car. Luckily, the crossing was only about 30 minutes, so it wasn't a problem.

After buying some snacks and filling up on fuel, we set off. Suddenly, we had driven across the entire Atlantic Ocean Road, it was much shorter than I had imagined.

• Plan your stops in advance, if you're not careful, it's easy to drive past all the viewpoints.

🌉 Experiencing the Atlantic Ocean Road

Because we crossed so quickly the first time, we turned around and drove back, stopping at several viewpoints along the way. The scenery was stunning, with bridges that seem to float above the ocean. Gizmo was amazing, patiently waiting every time I wanted to take a photo, and clearly curious about all the new sights and smells.

• Keep your camera ready, the views are spectacular, especially in good weather.

• Wear sturdy shoes and keep your dog on a leash at the stops, the rocks can be slippery, and it can be very windy.

Gizmo handled the day like a pro, calm, patient, and excited by everything he saw. This road is a must-see for both driving enthusiasts and nature lovers, but plan your stops to make the most of the journey.
