Discoveries in the UK's Capital: A Memorable Family Trip to London

We started our trip by taking a taxi from the airport to the hotel. It was expensive, so next time I'd definitely book through the Uber app instead, it's usually cheaper and more flexible.
We had two hotel rooms, both with bathrooms and showers, and comfortable beds. The rooms were a decent size and worked well for us as a family.
Shopping and Westfield
This trip was mainly about shopping. We visited Westfield, the largest shopping center in Europe, located in London. It was absolutely huge, with several floors, countless shops, and plenty of restaurants. I had spareribs with French fries, delicious!
💡 Family tips:
-
Set up a meeting point inside the mall in case someone gets lost.
-
Decide in advance how much time you'll spend shopping, it's easy to get tired when traveling in a group.
-
Many London shopping centers have rest areas, perfect for kids or older family members who need a break.
Getting around the city
We mostly traveled by the classic red double-decker buses. We saw both the London Eye and London Bridge, but we didn't go up in the Ferris wheel this time.
💡 Family tips:
-
Buy an Oyster Card or use contactless payment, it's much easier and cheaper than single tickets.
-
Children and teens get special discounts on public transport.
-
Buses are cheaper than the Underground, and you get to see more of the city on the way.
Splitting up the family
After a few days of shopping, we wanted to do different things. One of my sisters and my dad went out to visit bars and try different beers – they seemed to have a great time. Meanwhile, my mom, my youngest sister, and I went to the famous bookstore in Notting Hill. My mom loves the movie, so it was extra special for her. We all bought books, and it was a nice, quieter activity. Later, the whole family met up again by the London Eye before walking back to the hotel together.
💡 Family tips:
-
When traveling with family, it's sometimes best to split up, not everyone enjoys the same activities. This way, everyone gets something they like out of the trip.
-
Always set a clear time and place to meet up again.
Food and meals
We ate a lot at KFC during the trip, quick, simple, and practical for a family on the go.
💡 Family tips:
-
Fast food is convenient when traveling with kids or large groups, but try to dedicate at least one evening to a sit-down meal at a restaurant everyone enjoys. It makes for a more memorable shared experience.
-
Always carry snacks and water, especially if you have kids or family members who tire easily.
All in all
It was a fun family trip to London, with everything from shopping and sightseeing to bar hopping and book browsing. The best part was sharing the experiences together, even when we did different activities, it was always nice to reunite and enjoy family time in the heart of London.
