🇨🇿 Prague, Czech Republic: Part 2

04/25/2026

🛍 Day 4: A calm day and some shopping

This day was much calmer. We wandered through different shops, both malls and smaller stores around the square. In the city center, outside the National Museum, we stumbled upon what looked like a parade, people were waving flags, but we never figured out exactly what it was.

For dinner, we went to Mimosa Ristorante, which we jokingly called the "Lady and the Tramp restaurant" because it reminded us of the scene from the movie. My mom ordered a pizza with arugula and cured ham, which she loved. I went for one with bacon and eggs, it looked amazing, but the bacon could've been crispier and the eggs cooked a bit differently. Still, the atmosphere was nice and the restaurant cozy.

💡 Tip: Food in Prague is usually cheap, but the closer you get to tourist-heavy areas, the more expensive it becomes. Always check the menu and prices outside before you sit down.

🌉 Day 5 – Charles Bridge, endless stairs, and a surprise

We started the day with a good hotel breakfast and then walked to Charles Bridge. The medieval stone bridge is decorated with many statues of saints. We took lots of photos and soaked in the atmosphere by the river.

After crossing the bridge, we ended up climbing a long staircase. As we were walking up, music suddenly started playing from a nearby tower. At the top, we found a massive castle. We didn't go inside, but we relaxed on a bench and admired the view.

Later, we headed to a shopping mall. On our way out, we came across the rotating head sculpture we had seen on Google Maps but didn't know much about. It spun around a couple of times, and that was it. I filmed it while my mom laughed, saying: "Was that all? We waited for this?" We laughed too, but hey, now we had seen it!

To end the day, we treated ourselves to waffle ice cream filled with strawberries and topped with soft serve. Delicious but super filling.

💡 Tip: Charles Bridge is much better early in the morning or late at night when there are fewer crowds.

🏛 Day 6 – National Museum and Primark

The day started with a visit to the National Museum. It's huge and split into two buildings connected by a long hallway.

The first building had exhibitions on the Baroque period, famous people, fossils, crystals, and different historical eras. The second building was the highlight, skeletons, stuffed animals, insects, amphibians, and more. We both agreed the main museum was far more impressive, so if you want to save the best for last, start in the smaller building and then cross over.

💡 Tips:
Start in the smaller building to build up expectations.
Students get discounts, but you'll need a valid student ID.

After the museum, we went shopping at Primark, a massive store where we picked up clothes and small items.

✈ Day 7 – Going home

On the last day, we headed straight back to Norway, tired but full of experiences.

🔑 Recap – Part 2

This half of the trip was slower paced, but just as enjoyable. We got to experience Charles Bridge, some fun shopping, the quirky rotating head, and especially the National Museum, which was the highlight of Prague for us.

💡 General Prague Tips:
Always carry some cash, not everywhere accepts cards.
Public transport is great, but make sure you buy the correct ticket!
Balance the big attractions with smaller, random discoveries, Prague is full of them.
