😴 Japan Day 19: Rest Day

01/10/2026

📍 Location: Osaka – Hotel Atarayo Osaka

🛌 Needed a Break

After so many experiences the day before, I really needed a rest day. Even when you're having an incredible trip, your body and mind can suddenly hit a wall. Staying in a capsule with very thin walls didn't make relaxing easy, I could even hear my neighbor turning over in bed!

🌅 Slow Morning

I woke up early, got ready, and went out to buy some food. After eating a little, I crawled back into bed for another nap. Sometimes the best thing you can do is just sleep a bit more.

👕 Laundry and Notes

Later, I did some laundry. I had just enough coins for the washing machine (100 yen). While my clothes were washing, I sat at a hallway table, kept an eye on the machine, ate a snack, and wrote about my journey in my notebook. When the wash finished, I moved everything into the dryer.

💡 Tips & Tricks:

  • Always keep small coins handy, most capsule hotel machines don't accept cards.

  • Use laundry time to plan your next stop, write in your journal, or simply rest.

🎶 Creative Time and Relaxation

When the laundry was done, I went back to my room, kept writing, and posted some updates from Japan on Instagram and Snapchat. The rest of the day, I lay back with music in my ears and did absolutely nothing.

Even on a dream trip, you can hit a low point and really need a pause. It felt amazing to recharge my batteries before the next part of the journey.

🌟 Summary

All in all, this was a calm and necessary day, where I rested my body and mind, did some laundry, caught up on journaling, and took it easy. Rest days like this make it possible to fully enjoy the rest of the adventure.
