Axe Throwing in Antwerp: A Sweaty and Fun Experience

Hello everyone!
Today I'd like to share an experience that was both nerve-racking and incredibly fun, axe throwing in Antwerp, Belgium. Yes, you read that correctly, axe throwing! My friend Julie and I wanted to try something a little different during our trip, and it definitely became one of the most memorable activities we did.
A Chaotic Start
Our day began in a rather chaotic way.
Julie and I accidentally got on the wrong metro and ended up having to run to make it to our booking on time.
I honestly don't think I've ever run so fast. By the time we arrived, I was out of breath, sweating, coughing, and probably looked like I'd just finished a marathon. Thankfully, we made it, just a little late, and were able to join the safety briefing with another group.
With my heart racing and adrenaline already pumping, I was ready to try something completely new.
💡 Tip: Always leave yourself a little extra travel time when heading to activities in a new city. It's surprisingly easy to board the wrong train or metro.
Time to Throw Some Axes
After the instructions, we were each handed an axe and stepped up to the throwing line.
The first few throws were both exciting and slightly intimidating.
Julie quickly proved to be a natural, hitting the target several times.
Me... not so much.
Most of my throws either bounced off, landed on the floor, or completely missed the target. I probably looked more like a clumsy circus performer than an experienced axe thrower.
But honestly?
That made it even more fun.
Laughing the Whole Time
Every time Julie hit the target, we celebrated with cheers and high-fives.
Whenever it was my turn, there was usually a lot more laughing than celebrating.
The entire activity was filled with friendly competition, jokes, and plenty of laughter. Even though I wasn't very good at it, I had an amazing time.
Sometimes travel isn't about being the best, it's about sharing unforgettable moments with the people you're with.
💡 Tip: Don't be afraid to try activities you've never done before. You don't have to be good at something to have an incredible experience.
A Fun Activity in Antwerp
After several rounds of axe throwing, we were both tired, warm, and very happy.
Winning didn't really matter. What mattered was that we had fun together and created memories we'll still laugh about years later.
Axe throwing turned out to be a surprisingly enjoyable way to do something completely different from traditional sightseeing.
Practical Tips
🪓 Listen carefully to the safety instructions before you begin.
👟 Wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely.

🚇 Allow extra travel time if you're using public transportation.
👥 Axe throwing is a fantastic activity for friends, family, or groups.
Final Thoughts
Axe throwing became one of the funniest activities we experienced during our trip to Antwerp. Even though I clearly wasn't the most talented thrower, it was an experience filled with laughter, teamwork, and unforgettable memories.
If you're looking for something different to do in Antwerp besides museums and shopping, I can definitely recommend giving axe throwing a try.
Sometimes the best travel memories come from the moments that don't go exactly according to plan, and this day was the perfect example of that.
